CORR2 — Correlations between speech and psychopathology

Computes correlation coefficients (such as Pearson product-moment or Spearman rank coefficient) between speech parameters on the one hand, and psychopathology scales on the other (for fixed recordings and fixed experimental conditions). As an option, this program generates scatter plots thereby including the 2 regression lines y = y(x) and x = x(y). Such plots give a visual impression of the "strength" of the association between the two quantities under comparison: all points lying along the diagonal indicate perfect congruence, whereas, in the case of less perfect association, the angle between the 2 regression lines is inversely proportional to the correlation between the two quantities under comparison.

Fig. 27: Most of the speech parameters used to model speaking behavior and voice sound characteristics are inter-related to each other. This fact is reflected by statistically significant correlations. In consequence, single speech parameters explain only a small proportion of the observed variation of complex phenomena like speaking behavior or voice sound characteristics.
